The Martin Sinclair, Leaside's traditional narrow boat on the River Lea with 2 people waving passers by

Leaside’s traditional narrow boat, the Martin Sinclair

Our traditional Narrowboat, the Martin Sinclair is ideal for exploring the River Lea between Tottenham and Limehouse basin in a leisurely manner. The boat has a cabin with benches and a small foredeck where you can stand outside. The aft deck is large enough for the skipper, crew and a couple passengers to gather and take a turn on the tiller.

Each trip is led by a qualified  experienced skipper and crew. Passengers are welcome to have a go steering the boat, help with operating the locks or sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as the world glides gently past.

The maximum number of passengers on board is 12 and they can be of any age (under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult)

Book your trip

We run regular community narrowboat trips for only £7.50 in the summer from April through to October for individuals. Alternatively, if you’d like to hire the boat privately or as a corporate group for a maximum of 12 people. You can find out more on our Venue Hire page or send us an enquiry

Accessibility
Please note that the boat is not wheelchair accessible and there are steps to get onto and into the boat. The boat wobbles gently while underway and when people move around on board. We advise anyone with special accessibility requirements to come and have a look at the boat before making a booking to make sure that it is suitable for their needs.

Facilities
The boat has a chemical toilet on board, and a small gas hob to boil a kettle.

NOTE: All trips are to and from The Leaside Trust in Hackney. Additional cost may apply if different pickup/dropoff points are arranged.
